Summer Program
Baker & Daniels' summer associates are not assigned to a specific practice group. Rather, they are assigned a supervisor and advisor who monitor their workload and ensure that students receive projects from the practice groups where they are most interested. There are also educational opportunities planned to allow summer associates to grow as individuals and explore multiple areas of law:
"Bootcamp" — This one and one-half day experience allows new summer associates to orient themselves with Baker & Daniels, meet other members of the firm and get to know summer associates in their class. The program includes information sessions on research, writing skills, networking, etiquette luncheon and tips for a successful summer.
Ethics & Negotiations Seminars — These day-long sessions allow summer associates to learn the importance of ethics in the practice of law and negotiation skills.
Partners in Progress (PIP) Luncheons — PIP lunches are the most popular educational sessions among the summer associates. Every week, a Baker & Daniels partner discusses current projects that he or she has or is currently working on. These programs give summer associates insight into "the real world" and the opportunity to learn more about Baker & Daniels' clients and the community.
Partner with a Partner Program — In this program, summer associates are paired for the day with partners in their area of interest. Summer associates often attend client meetings, depositions, hearings or other out-of-office experiences.
Chit Lunch Program — Summer associates are issued pre-paid debt cards to take associates and partners out to lunch, breakfast or just to grab a cup of coffee. These opportunities provide summer associates with an easy way to socialize and network in a relaxed setting outside the office.
