11/04/2009
CHICAGO — Samuel P. Gussis and Samuel A. Lichtenfeld have joined the real estate practice group at Baker & Daniels LLP. Gussis becomes a partner and Lichtenfeld serves as counsel, both from the law firm's downtown Chicago office.
Both lawyers focus their practice on real estate finance and development. Gussis and Lichtenfeld have represented lenders across the U.S. in all aspects of commercial mortgage transactions — from loan origination (both portfolio and conduit loans) to the handling of non-performing loans. Their experience also includes acquisitions, dispositions and financing for real estate developments ranging from multi-unit residential complexes to office parks and shopping centers to all aspects of condominium conversations.
Before joining Baker & Daniels, Gussis and Lichtenfeld both practiced at Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin LLC in Chicago.
"Chicago is a great market, and we are pleased to be expanding our real estate presence there," said Joe Scimia, Baker & Daniels' real estate practice leader from the firm's Indianapolis location. "Sam Gussis and Sam Lichtenfeld are outstanding additions to our team. Their added experience will allow us to provide enhanced service to our clients throughout the Midwest."
Gussis graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1999 and from Dartmouth College in 1995. Lichtenfeld earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law in 2002 and bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in 1999.
Baker & Daniels opened its Chicago office at 311 South Wacker Drive in June 2008. The full-service firm was founded in Indianapolis in 1863.
